8 Days Sumatra Jungle Adventure Tour

 

Day 1

Arrive in the airport at ....We will fetch you from the airport and depart directly to Bohorok/Bukit Lawang, the orangutans rehabilitation centre. The journey leads you past the scenic rubber and palm oil plantations. Overnight stay in Eco Lodge Bukit Lawang Cottages or Rindu Alam Hotel, located directly on the bank of Bohorok river. In the afternoon free at your own program.

 

Day 2

Bohorok – see the orangutans at feeding side - jungle trekking. After breakfast we will see the Sumatran orangutans at the feeding area and continue with jungle trekking in the tropical rain forest of Sumatra. It is suggested to have comfortable sportive shoes for this activity. We have to walk for around 45 minutes at the side of Bohorok river to find the feeding area. Prior to arrival at rehabilitation centre you have to cross the river by small wooden canoe and then do a short climbing through the tropical rainforest. Here we are watching the park ranger feeds the orangutans. Thereafter we will do jungle trekking in the tropical rain forest to see wild animals in their nature enviroments. In the afternoon we will camp in Jamur Batu. The camp built right at the bank of a river. Overnight stay in a simple tent in the jungle. Lunch and dinner will be served by your local guide and porter.

 

Day 3

Jamur Batu – Bohorok - Tangkahan.  After breakfast we clear up the camp and ready to walk back to Bohorok. In the afternoon we will drive to Tangkahan at other side of Mt. Leuser Nature Reservation. Upon arrival in Tangkahan we proceed to Green Lodge or similar accommodation for overnight stay. The rest of the day free at your own program. Please kindly note that accommodation in Tangkahan is very simple.

 

Day 4

Tangkahan - Brastagi. After breakfast you can participate in bathing an elephant and riding elephant for around 1 hour in the plantation and tropical rainforest of Sumatra. At noon we drive back to Medan and from there to Brastagi. Brastagi is a mountain resort in the Karo Highland that surroundings with two active volcanoes, Sibayak & Sinabung. In Brastagi, if you like you can visit fruits market, a traditional market where local souvenir and fruits are selling side by side. Overnight stay in hotel Sinabung or similar in Brastagi.

 

NOTE: Riding elephant

Please note thatv  elephant schedule activity is from 10.00am until 02.00pm and it is available everyday except on Monday and Thursday.

 

Day 5

Brastagi – hike the Sibayak volcano – Samosir island. Wake up early in the morning to start hiking the Sibayak volcano. It is around 2 hours to go up and 2 hours to go down. Thereafter return to hotel for clean up and continue the trip to Lake Toba. En route you will visit Dokan, a traditional Batak Karonese village. Here you can observe traditional houses of the tribe & daily activities of the villagers. Thereafter we depart to Lake Toba. En route we can stops at the Sipiso-piso waterfall with its splendid view over the lake Toba & resorted Royal Palace of King Purba at Pematang Purba. You can also make couple stops at local farms such as pineapple, ginger & coffee plantations that belong to the local farmers. In the afternoon you will arrive in Parapat at the lake Toba, from where you embark the ferry to cross the lake to Samosir island and proceed to Tuk Tuk village. Overnight stay in hotel Toledo Inn or  hotel Silintong , both are located on the lake side.

 

Day 6
Samosir – tour on this island. Today we will make excursion to several Batak Toba villages on this island. First we will visit Simanindo village where you can see a performance of traditional Batak Toba dances, then to Ambarita village where you can hear the interesting legend of megalithic cultural objects. From Ambarita you can enjoy scenic view over Lake Toba from Sigarantung view while drink a cup of hot coffee/tea (OPTIONAL).  After that we go to Tomok to visit the noble cemetery of King Sidabutar in Tomok.  During the excursion you will have a chance to walk & see the way of life of the local Batak Toba tribe. Overnight stay in hotel Toledo Inn or hotel Silintong. Your room has beautiful view to the lake Toba.

 

Day 7

Samosir island – Parapat – Medan. After breakfast we cross the lake Toba back to Parapat. In Parapat if you like, you can spend sometime just to scroll the main street where a lot of souvenir shops and local cafes. Thereafter we drive back to Medan via Pematang Siantar.  You will drive through endless plantations of rubber, palm oil & cacao. Upon arrival in Medan if you like you can make a short city tour by visiting the beautiful mix architectures of Maimoon palace built in 1888 by the Sultan of Deli (former name of Medan) Sultan Mahmood Al Rashid. Then a visit to Grand Mosque built in 1906 where you can see its interesting ornaments, to Chinese and Hindu temples. As one of the most important cities during Dutch colonial time, you can see also colonial architectural touch in building likes: the Post office, the old City Hall, Central bank, etc. You can also visit Asam kumbang crocodile farm. Here you can see crocodiles at different ages and sizes. Overnight stay in hotel Madani or similar, located in the centre of Medan.

 

Day 8

Medan – airport. Today we transfer you to the airport to catch your flight to next destination. Ends of your fine tour with us on Sumatra.

The above tour program is an individual tour. You will travel individually with your own driver and guide. There is no body else in your transportation. You have your own privacy and decide your own time.
